We’re thrilled to announce that Business NH Magazine has selected New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp (NHMB) and its subsidiaries, Merrimack County Savings Bank and Meredith Village Savings Bank, as 2015 “Business of the Year” in the Financial Services category.
The award, presented to NHMB in May, helps to fulfill the promise that originally led us to make our groundbreaking alliance with Meredith Village Savings Bank in 2013.
“This recognition reaffirms our decision to join forces as successful institutions so that we can continue to serve our communities for many years to come,” said Paul Rizzi, President and CEO of The Merrimack and Co-CEO of New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp. “We are so appreciative of the loyal support of our employees, customers and community members, as we have worked through some of the most significant changes in our banks’ histories.”

Main Street Progress Report
This summer’s major renovations along Main Street will help make downtown Concord an even better place to live, dine and shop. If you’re like many of our customers and neighbors, you may be curious about the changes underway. Here’s a street-level progress report.
Main Street: Still Open for Business
A block away from our Main Office on North Main Street, Pam Peterson of the award-winning Gondwana & Divine Clothing Co. noted that construction has been less of a hindrance than many expected.
“Thanks to our loyal customers, foot traffic has been excellent through the last three months,” said Pam. “Many customers are making an effort to support downtown businesses and free parking in the construction zone has helped. Our customers are also finding parking spots on Main Street, or accessing us through Bicentennial Square after parking in the garages or on State Street.”
Pam credited Severino Trucking Company for its efficiency and aid to merchants and customers navigating the construction zone, and she looked ahead to a vibrant downtown.
“We hope that more people from our community will linger on the new Main Street,” said Pam. “It should be a great place to socialize and enjoy the wider sidewalks, new seating and updated look to our historic downtown.”
Time for a Facelift at The Merrimack
Closer to home, we’re refurbishing the landmark clock outside our Main Office at 89 North Main Street. In addition to gleaming new graphics and trim, the clock will once again feature fully operational digital temperature and time displays. Look for it later this fall.
In Search of Missing Sconces
Next door, we are also tackling restoration work at the historic New Hampshire Savings Bank Building – and we’d appreciate your help.
Built in 1928, this five-story building of locally quarried granite is now the home of our sister company, MillRiver Wealth Management. During remodeling we noticed the absence of the original lighting fixtures, shown at left, and our goal is to restore the building in a way befitting the proud history of downtown Concord. If you know the whereabouts of the missing sconces, please call 603-225-2793 and help us shed some light on this mystery.
