Concord Dental Sealant Coalition Receives $3,400 Grant from Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation

Concord, NH – August 20, 2015 – The Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation granted $3,400 to Concord Dental Sealant Coalition. This grant will go toward their mission of addressing the unmet dental needs of Concord, NH-area school children. This is one of 19 awards presented by the Foundation to not-for-profit organizations this year, according to Paul Rizzi, President and CEO of Merrimack County Savings Bank.

“We’re proud to stand behind organizations like the Coalition who aim to improve the health and well-being of school children. The Coalition’s mission helps young people ensure their smiles are well cared-for and we are more than happy to support this effort,” said Rizzi. “Since our organization first took shape in 2006, we’ve seen a tremendous decrease in the amount of untreated decay. We’ve only recently started to reach kindergarten-aged children, which has allowed us more opportunity to catch and prevent dental decay before it starts,” said Dr. Laurie Rosato, Concord Dental Sealant Coalition Chair. “We’re grateful to the Foundation’s generous support.”

The Concord Dental Sealant Coalition has been addressing the unmet dental needs of Concord-area school-children since 2006. Doubling the number of schools served to ten in 2014 from five schools in 2006, the program has plans to expand its reach moving forward. Preventative dental services of the Concord Dental Sealant Coalition include:

  • Classroom Oral Health
  • Dental Assessments
  • Preventive Dental Services
  • Dental Referrals

The Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation was funded by Merrimack County Savings Bank in 1997 for grant-based contributions to not-for-profit organizations that enrich and improve the quality of life for residents living in the Bank’s service areas. Five Trustees, selected among the Bank’s Corporators and Board of Trustees administer the Foundation and its activities, distributing a portion of the Foundation's endowment each year. While not focused on a particular category, the Merrimack remains mindful of the receiving organization and its contribution to the quality of life in the communities served.
